Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jason Wirth has traveled and concertized extensively
in both the US and Europe. Jason has appeared as a piano soloist with several orchestras, including
touring France with the Moscow Philharmonic, with a concert at the famous Tours Festival. He has also
played with the Oradea Philharmonic (Romania) and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. A prizewinner in
the International Piano Competition of Escaldes-Engordany (Andorra) and the Dichler-Sato International
Competition (Vienna), he has also won prizes at the Fontainebleau Music School (the Prix Casadesus),
and at Mannes College of Music (the Newton Swift Piano Award).
He began piano studies with Prof. Alexander Braginsky of the University of Minnesota at the age of five, and studied with him continuously until he was 18. He received his Bachelor of Music from Mannes the New School for Music in New York where he studied with Prof. Pavlina Dokovska. He has also studied at Yale School of Music with Prof. Boris Berman. In addition to his solo work as a pianist, he has done extensive collaborative work with instrumentalists and singers. He made his conducting debut in the fall of 2009 in Brooklyn Repertory Opera’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos, and has since worked as a conductor/coach on numerous operas ranging from baroque repertoire to new works.
